Inverstors' fears have been assuaged in the last day or two by assurances of huge money to bail out major banks and finance houses all over the world.

It has been a harrowing week for those with money, but a relatively calm one for those without it. I speak from experience.

Throughout the world humans function on the basis that work equals life. We spend our life for what monetary units. And that is the way God ordered it.

—Not that his was his Plan A. Plan A was that there were free lunches. Just read the first few chapters of the Bible for the details. If you don't want to believe the Bible, then you had better come up with a pretty convincing alternative.

History has rolled by for some thousands of years—many thousands according to some, just a few thousands according to others. Once again, the Bible has the details. For the age and history of human existence and civilisation, read Genesis Chapter 5 and and Chapter 10. During this era we have tried numerous kinds of government and financial models. All have their flaws.

My preference is the current, western capitalistic model, which has its variants—I'm not fussy which one. The reason it works so well is that it is best at coping with human nature. Incidentally, I also prefer democracy for the same reason.

One day, when God has let us run through all the alternative models, and we have found each one wanting, he will say, "Enough!" and stop the world. In a magnificent and show-stopping form of the dazzling and powerful Jesus Christ he will catch us all on the pinnacle of rebellion and frustration and end it all.

He will overturn our precious world system of belief, government, finance and trade. How do I know all this? I have read all of the Bible, and you don't get to this part until you have digested the sermon of the Lord Jesus Christ as reported in Matthew 24, and read the scenario laid out in his message to his close friend, John the apostle.

That book is called Revelation. It says, "Woe! Woe, O great city, O Babylon, city of power! In one hour your doom has come! The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn over her because no one buy their cargoes any more..."

With the fall of Babylon, the city that represents our world system, life as we know it will be at an end. Bad news if you happen to be there at the time. It will make the 1929 Great Depression look like sunrise.

After the fall of Babylon comes the defeat of all who hate God. Read about it in Revelation Chapters 18 and 19, and ask yourself, "How do I escape?"

If you don't know, email me. Or read the rest of God's letter to you.
