If you have ever dealt with insecure people you will recognise the signs: they brag a lot, get out of hand, throw tantrums and have persecution complexes.

The world is cursed currently with a number of such delinquents. I have mentioned this before, but they just keep on acting up, and stir me up to write.

He has a rocket and a bomb

Brat number one is North Korea’s Dear Leader, Kim Jon Il. He loves attention, but will not be loved or disciplined. He has a rocket and a bomb. Put the two together and they can blast the USA. I suppose the USA has noticed. If so, it appears to be doing nothing to chastise the brat. He is planning for it.

A committee dictator

Brat number two is a collective animal, the committee that runs China. Desperate they are to cling on to power, although even they must know that empires fall. They have annexed Tibet, imposed a foreign culture and language on the people, and deprived them of their practising their beliefs. They kill Christians and are mortally afraid of the Falung Gong. They have erected the Great Firewall of China to keep out ideas and democracy. Talking of which, it is 20 years since the Tienanmin Square massacre of idealists. Let’s not forget that. One day China will fall, and it will from within.

No negotiating with this fanatic

Brat number three is a fanatical Moslem, the Prime Minister of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmedinajad. There is no negotiating with a fanatic. He is working towards a nuclear weapon and nothing will stop him, except perhaps a defeat at the polls. Stranger things have happened, and a week is a long time in politics, even Middle East politics.  I’m sure Israel has a few tried and tested contingency plans.

A manic Polynesian

Brat number four is a pipsqueak who nevertheless shows signs of mania. He is Frank Bainimarama, an army man in the model of the first Fijian rebel, Steve Rambuka. Fiji is lost in the South Pacific, and doesn’t show up on international media, but the country is suffering. The judiciary declared him illegal, so he dissolved the court system. The Law Society opposed him so he dissolved the Law Society. The Methodist Church began talking politics and Frank cancelled its big, annual conference. Australia and New Zealand, the two South Pacific heavyweights are offended by this brat’s behaviour, but do nothing about him. He is out of the Pacific Forum and will soon be out of everything else, but the country continues downhill economically and socially, and will soon fall into the arms of China. Is that what we want?

Many have wondered that we didn’t stop Stalin, Mussolini and Hitler before they got monstrous. Queen Victoria would have said, “Send a gunboat.” Something similar would sort out these delinquents.
